Elephant Village: INFOPrice, Neaby, Traffic
Q:I am planning to visit Pattaya for three days in January. What are the must-see things there? Any other information is also welcome!

A:Here are some of the attractions I would recommend in Pattaya:
The Pattaya Elephant Village
The Pattaya Elephant Village is a not-for-profit sanctuary dedicated to saving former working elephants. To help with funding, the village offers elephant treks and a 90-minute daily show on elephant-training techniques.
The visitors will ride on the back of an elephant through local farmland and bush for about 45-50 minutes (2 persons will share the basket strapped to the back of one elephant). After making a brief stop at the Silk House, visitors will return to the Elephant Village by Land Rover. At the village, visitors will be served with complimentary fruits in season. This service takes place four times daily with the first trek at 09.00 hrs. (A minimum of 4 persons is required) The other treks take place at 10.30, 12.30, 16.00 hrs. Bookings should be made in advance.
My friend and I did this trip and it was well worth the money , we had a 4km trek across fields and through some water , a white knuckle ride back in a land rover (if it makes it!).You get to see Thai lifestyle out in the open air with a variety of other animals running free along the route, you can feed them for a 100 Bart bag of bananas as well. The only thing we didn't like was that our elephant was a bit slower then the others and he seemed to be forcefully encouraging him with the aid of a stick until I asked him not to, we were shocked as this is an animal sanctuary. The other point was that the handler actually asked for a tip instead of waiting for us to give it to him, this aside we would definitely recommend it.
