MOSCOW, October 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Helicopter Service Company (HSC), an affiliate of Russian Helicopters Holding, and the Forest Aviation Headquarters of the Republic of Korea signed a repair contract on four Ka-32T helicopters belonging to the South Korean operator.

According to the contract terms, all repair work will be conducted to extend the lifespan of the helicopters by 2,000 flight hours and by 10 years - until the next overhaul maintenance. This is the first direct contract between HSC and the South Korean operator not requiring a mediator. Previously, such work was done by LG International at its service center while HSC operated as a subcontractor.

All repair work under the contract will be conducted by Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise, which is also a Russian Helicopters subsidiary. The repairs will take place at the Forest Aviation Headquarters technical centre in Wonju, which is equipped for such work. All repairs must be fully completed within 8 months.

The Kamov Ka-32 is a general designation of a medium transport helicopter of a coaxial design with two turboshaft engines and fixed landing gear. The Kamov Ka-32 is a civilian version of Ka-27PS search-and-rescue helicopter that was developed by the Kamov Design Bureau. Since 1985, the Ka-32 type helicopters have been serially produced by Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise. Currently, more than 60 Ka-32 helicopters are successfully operated for various tasks in South Korea with their total flight hours exceeding 100,000.

Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise is a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters and is the largest industrial facility in Kumertau, which produces high-tech helicopters and special vehicles. Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise specializes in production of coaxial helicopters. It produces all types of helicopters belonging to Ka-27 family, Ka-31, civil multirole helicopter D?D°-32D?11D?D?, and the latest Ka-226 and Ka-226T helicopters.
