North American porcupine (© Minden Pictures/SuperStock)
【April 30 2015】This photo was likely taken at twilight or dawn, as North American porcupines are primarily nocturnal. Averaging about 20 pounds, these rodents tend to forage alone for roots, berries, twigs, and other vegetation. Though some predators have been documented successfully attacking porcupines – usually by flipping them over to avoid the quills – most cougars, wolves, bears, and other animals will pass them up in favor of easier prey.Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
