Hikers on Hverfjall, Iceland (© Joseph Calev)
【April 21 2015】More than 2,500 years ago, a huge volcanic eruption blasted through the surface of the island now called Iceland. The nearly symmetrical crater left behind has since been named Hverfjall (also known as Hverfell), and it beckons to adventure seekers who make their way into the lunar landscape in the northern part of the country. The crater stretches more than a half-mile across. Two different trails allow hikers to reach the rim hike, where they’re rewarded with photo opportunities such as this.Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
