【October 11 2014】With ski-jump-style spillways and a nearly vertical concrete wall that drops 460 feet from the reservoir to the narrow canyon below, the Aldeadávila Dam generates power from the water of the Douro River. The Douro marks the border between Portugal and Spain. Upstream, the dam has created a reservoir that’s popular for boating. And a wide stretch of scenic land on the Portuguese side of the river, near the dam site, is protected as the International Douro Natural Park.Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
