【October 11 2013】Built for displaying artwork during the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exhibition in San Francisco, the Palace of Fine Arts was not intended as a permanent structure. But by the end of the fair, the palace with its large rotunda and Greek-style colonnades was so beloved that it was spared from demolition. After decades of being put to various uses, the wood and plaster construction eventually crumbled into disrepair.
