New Croton Dam in Croton-on-Hudson, New York (© Greg Miller/Gallery Stock)
【July 30 2013】Although it's called the New Croton Dam, this waterfall-like spillway was built over a century ago to supply New York's northern boroughs with drinking water. Even today, it continues to direct water to open faucets nearly 22 miles away. A bridge above the dam provides an excellent view of the rapids' steps.
