Tadpoles in Cedar Lake, near Campbell River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada (© Eiko Jones Photography)
【May 9 2013】When photographer Eiko Jones took this underwater photo in Cedar Lake, he was briefly taken aback by the sight of a large school of tadpoles swimming toward him. Luckily for us, it didn't stop him from snapping the shot. These pond lilies are perennials that multiply quickly into colonies from rhizomes buried deep in the mud. They send stalks up to the surface, providing a perfect nursery for aquatic wildlife like tadpoles (and underwater photographers).
