【February 6 2013】Even for folks in its home state of Nevada, Fly Geyser is a virtually unknown attraction. Probably because it's on closely guarded private property. Fly Ranch sits roughly 20 miles north of Gerlach, on the edge of Black Rock Desert in northwest Nevada. In 1916, workers digging a well at the site hit a geothermal spring, which flooded the area. Pressure and heat built up over the years, until the ground cracked during the 1960s and mineral-rich water began to spray. The mineral deposits built a colorful rock tower that now climbs, in rainbow-hued glory, above the arid landscape. Fly Ranch is private property, so you can't see the geyser up close. But careful drivers on State Route 34 might catch a glimpse on a clear day. Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
