Monument to the Revolution, Mexico City (© Thom Lang/Corbis)
【February 5 2013】If you visit the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City, you'll be closer to some of the country's revolutionary war heroes than you may realize. After more than three decades of autocratic rule under President Porfirio Díaz, Mexico had become industrialized by the early 1900s, but at the expense of the working class. By 1910, however, Francisco I. Madero had incited the popular revolution that would depose Díaz. This monument was constructed on the foundation of what was to have been a palace for Díaz. Interred in the structure are several leaders of the revolt, including Madero. Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
