【September 11 2014】The darker of the stones here was charred in the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 that struck the Pentagon building in Arlington County, Virginia. When five hijackers flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon that day, they were making an unmistakable assault on the military heart of the United States. Meanwhile, of course, the American financial center was being attacked when hijacked planes smashed into the World Trade Center buildings in New York City. This charred stone stands as a memorial to those killed at the Pentagon that day. Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
