Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Screen
- Fly your Movie Business Class - 1,500 baht for 2
bangkok 4D Theater, Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Screen, Bangkok Cinemas, bangkok IMAX Theater, Bangkok Movie Theater, Bed Cinema in bangkok, best cinema bangkok 2016, Enigma Theatre, Movie Experiences on Valentine's Day, Popular Cinemas in Bangkok, Valentine's Day Movie in bangkok 2016, Where to Watch a Movie in Bangkok, bangkok multiplex theatres, siam paragon bangkok, Valentine's Day in bangkok 2016, things to do in bangkok 2016,
If a normal movie theater is equivalent to flying economy class in a humongous airplane, the analogy works even better here, since Bangkok Airways took over the Nokia Silver Screen and renamed it the 'Blue Ribbon Screen'. For a mere 1,500 baht for 2 (all seats are couple seats, you can't book just one) you have access to a fancy and colourful waiting lounge where free drinks, wines and beers are served accompanied by some cute petit cakes. The ticket even includes a 15 minute foot massage if you are a bit early or shopped too long! Once the movie starts, move to one of the two rooms where each of the few couple seats is set in by an alcove to isolate viewers from their neighbours. Naughty, naughty. Seats recline just like La-Z-Boy and come with a comfy pillow and a silky blanket. Waiters come and take your order if you want some more drinks but this second round will be charged. This is great value for money and you should experience it for a movie you really want to watch, just don't fall asleep in the comfort of your bed, and hope that your neighbour doesn't start snoring either!

La Scala Movie Theatre - The Vintago Experience - 100 Baht

Some people want to show off with the latest and greatest experiences, but let's be honnest, some of the high-tech cinemas lack soul. All the machinery and gadgets can't hide that the essentially look like shiny black boxes. If you want a cinema trip with a slice of history then check of the Scala in Siam Square. This cinema was built in the 60s and they've kept the beautiful art deco architecture in perfect nick. The cheery chappy in a yellow blazer and bowtie has also been there since it opened. Just because the experience is vintage it doesn't mean the screen is, the Scala have kept their audio visual equipment up to date. The same can't be said for the seats though, one bonus modern theatres have is precious leg room.

RCA House Theatres

For the more discerning viewer, we also recommend the RCA House theatres at RCA (Royal City Avenue). Royal City Avenue is located off New Petchaburi Road, and is most reknown for its 'clubbing' scene. RCA House is a bit more difficult to locate than most theatres. If you use public transport, the best way is probably to get by MRT subway to the Petchaburi station. From there, take a taxi down New Petchaburi road, RCA is located about 3-4 km down the road in the eastern direction.
RCA House screens foreign language movies (with Thai and English subtitles) and movies that are not 'big' enough to be screened at popular theatres.

During the daytime, there are hardly any visitors, but traffic to get there may be a problem. So maybe the best time to visit is on saturdays and sundays (less traffic congestion). The first time you go there, give yourself ample time. The theatres are not exactly hidden, but you may need to ask directions from the 'locals'.

Where: 31/8 Royal City Avenue (MRT Petchaburi station, take Exit 1 and then grab a taxi to TOPS supermarket in RCA)

SF Cinema City First Class - 700 baht

SFX Central Lat Phrao First Class

Where: SFX Central Lat Phrao (Central Lat Phrao mall - MRT: Phahon Yothin, short taxi ride away from BTS Mo Chit)

SFX Central Rama 9 First Class

Where: SFX Central Rama 9 (Central Rama 9 mall - MRT: Phra Ram 9)

SFX Central Chaeng Wattana First Class

Where: SFX Central Chaeng Wattana (Central Chaeng Wattana mall -- take a taxi from BTS Mo Chit or MRT Chatuchak. This one is well off the tourist trail.)

Something You Need to Know
The most important thing to be aware of when you attend the cinema in Thailand is that you will be required to rise for the Royal Anthem in honour of His Majesty King and the Royal family before the movie starts.

Language and Subtitles
In central Bangkok and touristy cities like Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket, foreign films (such as Hollywood releases) have the original soundtrack (or 'soundtrack') with Thai sub-titles. Major cinemas playing Thai and other Asian films usually provide English subtitles. Check with the cinema first to avoid disappointment.
