TCL Communication Unveiled its New Brand, ALCATEL for New Millennial Generation

Partnered with ASTRI to Showcase Latest 5G Technology Solution

Hong Kong, March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" which, together with its subsidiaries and its affiliates, is referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 2618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products in February and the first two months of 2016.

The Group's total sales volume of handsets and other products increased by 7% year-on-year to 4,737,000 units in February 2016. Sales volume of handsets and other products in overseas markets increased by 15% year-on-year to 4,572,000 units, while shipments in China market totalled 165,000 units. Sales volume of smart devices totalled 2,243,000 units, and accounted for 47% of the Group's total shipment for the month. For the first two months of 2016, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products totalled 10,513,000 units, while the cumulative sales volume of smart devices totalled 5,779,000 units.

In February, the Group announced at Mobile World Congress ("MWC") 2016 that its "ALCATEL ONETOUCH" brand was simplified as "ALCATEL". The new branding will increase its engagement with millennial customers and further enhance user experience through custom-made mobile features and trending technologies.

Meanwhile, the Group introduced various innovative products under the ALCATEL brand, including its flagship IDOL 4 series smartphone and PLUS 10, the Group's first 2-in-1 tablet powered by Windows 10 operating system.

IDOL 4 series is uniquely designed with a Boom Key at the edge of the device, which offers an augmented multimedia experience from phototaking to music and to gaming. The larger, 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED display IDOL 4S's innovative packaging design can transform into a pair of virtual reality goggles which, when combined with the smartphone, becomes the portal for users to enter the world of immersive 360-degree viewing and gaming.

While PLUS 10 is equipped with a detachable 4G keyboard which can serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot, together with multiple ports, provides users the optimal balance between productivity and entertainment.

The above products received 15 global honours from various international top tier media, including Android Authority's "Best of MWC 2016", Android Central's "MWC 2016 Top Pick", PhoneArena's "Best Innovation of MWC 2016 - Second Runner-up", Tom's Guide's "Best of MWC 2016", and Windows Central's "MWC 2016 Top Pick", proving the market's favour towards the Group's products as well as acknowledgement from the industry.

In addition, the Group is committed to promoting the development of 5G technology. At MWC, it partnered with the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute ("ASTRI") to present a live demonstration of a new generation cellular Device-to-Device ("D2D") solution. It laid the foundation to 5G's reliable and low latency communication by allowing mobile devices to communicate directly with one another without transiting via the network.

In February, TCL Corporation teamed up with Tsinghua Unigroup to establish a RMB10 billion merger and acquisition fund ("M&A Fund"). The M&A Fund will bring along synergy within the industry and provide capital resources, promote transformation and upgrade of the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries across China, allowing TCL Corporation and the Group to establish a favourable industrial ecosystem.
