The 27th Macao Art Festival, themed "Time", will be held from April 30th to May 29th by Cultural Affait Bureau, taking " Reshape Your Imagination, Experience the Spirit of the Times" as the slogan. It means that after the development, changes and accumulation for thousands of years, many classics are always be with us in our daily life to guide our growth.
This time, the festival shows customers the imagery of sun meaning that things rise and down as well as change irregularly and are permanent. So do life and culture.

The year 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the death of great William Shakespeare and China's famous playwriight Tang Xianzu in Ming Dynasty. To show respect to these two virtuosos, the MAF will present the classic romantic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream by The Shakespeare Theatre Company as an opening ceremony. A Midsummer Nighr's Dream will show in a special way by the Broadway director Ethan McSweeny. It  mixes dream and reality, darkess and wonders to represent  the love legend.

 The Macao Art Festival will draw to a close with an adaptation of Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s most renowned tragedies, presented by Third World Bunfight from South Africa, a show exploring a vision of the world through a post-colonial African scenery and the historical and current relations between Africa and the West.

Two of master pieces of Ming Dynasty's famous playwriight Tang Xianzu will be presented on the stage of 2016 Macao Art Festival.  Lefends of Puple Hairpin, that wins universal praise, will be shown by lacal well-known cantonese opera actors and atresses. And regareded as one of the four classic operas,  The Peony Pavilion will be presented the highlights.

There is a saying if a man can only watch one Shaoxing opera, it must be Luyou and Tangwan, a classic romantic opera, which was created in 1989. The opera combines the emotion of "family-country" with romantic love. The Shaoxing opera Luyou and Tangwan in Macao Art Festival 2016 will be witXiaobaihua Shaoxing opera company's style, as usual, showing Jiangnan's unique characteristcs -- elegent,  gracful, lyric and exquisite.
