Andy Burnham has claimed he would be leader of the Labour Party if leadership election rules had not been reformed.
![]() The Labour party has selected the shadow home secretary, Andy Burnham, as its candidate to fight the Greater Manchester mayoral election in May 2017. ![]() Mr Burnham, who fought for the leadership against Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendall and Jeremy Corbyn last year, received 19% of the votes, compared with 59.5% for Mr Corbyn.He told the magazine he found it “pretty hard” to take that if the 2010 leadership rules had been in place in 2015 then he would probably have won. ![]() |
