  Known as a 'hidden treasure' this was apparently built in the 1970s and is much less known than other Buddhist Temples in Hong Kong such as Po Lin Monastery, meaning that you will be able to enjoy the ambience without finding yourself shuffling amongst crowds of tourists or worshippers.   Chances are - most of the people taking the minibus here are here to visit the Yuen Yuen Institute. The Western Monastery next door is much better. It is more peaceful with less people. While the inside is nothing to shout about, the buildings outside are impressive. The gardens are also full of wonderful statues.

  This Buddhist monastery is a tranquil complex right next to the Yuen Yuen Institute. After being greeted by a Bodhisattva statue in the entrance, the main building lies behind, styled as a classical Chinese palace. This is a "pure land" Buddhist sect/styled temple.
