  aside from the dead, we were the only ones there on the day we visited...small cemetery dating back to the 18th Century which gives you some idea of the many people who must have passed through macau from foreign lands with the majority meeting an early end. lovely engraved tombstones and inscriptions, quite moving and very peaceful. next to the...   Tucked away behind walls and a closed church, this is a consecrated place well worth a visit ifor anyone interested in the history of Macau. Check out in particular the children's graves on the upper terrace.

  Next to the Luis Camoes garden and the Casa Garden so easy to look into, but it's small and not much of a sanctuary, especially with the lack of seating.

  The Old Protestant Cemetery is in the historic district of old Macau, and there is a small, white chapel on the grounds, and the cemetery itself lies below.   Visiting historical places in Macau, we had time for only one final place to visit and we picked Morrison's Chapel and the Protestant Cemetery. What a wonderful choice getting away from the hustle bustle of Macau during the Golden Week. The cemetery was one of peace, solitary and serenity.   The Old Protestant Cemetery is found on Camoes Square along with fellow World Heritage attractions, Casa Garden, St. Anthony's church and the non-World Heritage Camoes Garden and Grotto. It is a nice inclusion to the Macau World Heritage collection, being the location where you can find the burial sites of the historical figures Robert Morrison and George Chinnery. We enjoy... More
