Underwater World Pattaya Thailand
Underwater World Pattaya was officially opened on 4th July 2003 and is the first modern aquarium in Thailand. It features a 100-metre long underwater tunnel with a capacity of 3.8 million litres of water, which showcases an impressive diversity of 5,000 fishes from 500 species from Thailand and around this region. Besides opening visitors eyes to the brilliance and diversity of undersea life, Underwater World Pattaya also plays an important role in education and marine conservation. School visits are actively supported, and new educational programs are constantly being developed.
On the morning of Friday, 11th April, Mr. Kelvin Whang, General Manager of Underwater World welcomed 40 children from the Child Abuse Centre for a trip around this fascinating aquarium in Pattaya. Opened in 2003 it is the first modern aquarium in Thailand presenting an array of sea life, from eels to fragile looking seahorses! It is located on Sukhumvit Road in Jomtien (next to Makro Cash and Carry). Even though the children didn’t take up the offer to dive with an instructor and swim with the friendly sharks they were dazzled by the multi coloured life as they walked through the remarkable 100 meter long glass underwater tunnel and watch the sharks and rays swimming above. Underwater World Pattaya plays an important role in education and marine conservation, and after their visit, the children were treated to a smashing lunch complete with souvenirs from Underwater World.
