【January 22 2013】The people of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie like to think their town has a little more magic and wonder than some other places. Who are we to disagree? A metal star hangs above Moustiers, suspended on a chain between the two cliffs that bookend the village. The icon allegedly dates back to the 10th century, when a knight, Bozon de Blacas, was captured during the Crusades. Poet Frederic Mistral claimed Blacas dedicated the star to St. Mary when he returned, safe from capture. The current star is the 11th to grace the sky above the town. It was hung in 1957 and is covered in gold leaf. Explore breathtaking Gallery from the HuluTrip homepage over the past 5 years..
