  It's quite far end of Macau and there's really nothing there but an office building that you can't enter. Don't bother to go.

  While visitors are limited to what can be visited inside the building, it is worth walking by to glimpse a part of Macau's association with the larger Portuguese Empire, as this building housed Portuguese Indian (from Goa) forces who made up part of the police force.

  During on Chinese New Year (CNY) Day (8 Feb 2016), the 238-metre dragon parades its way through the Historic Centre of Macau, making stops at specific landmark buildings, including the Moorish Barracks for a few minutes, allowing visitors some great photograph opportunities.   Even though it was built by an Italian Architect, it was constructed to accommodate the military from Goa in India. But is just like a building from Portugal was lifted out and placed in Macau! Well worth a visit, and it is on the historical Macau trail which is well worth doing.

  Moorish Barracks is just behind A-ma temple and on one of the walking trip in historic entre of Macau... Apart from its historical signifance, nothing much to see there.. I got fascinated that Portuguese used to get lot of Navy guards from Goa ( India ) due to their stamina to work in hot weather conditions.. in fact, met one... More

  We tried to visit the Moorish Barracks this past Chinese New Year to find that they were not open to the public. It was a bit disappointing to not see the inside of this attraction but we did enjoy walking around the long outside veranda and looking at the Moghul and Islamic architecture of which this building was designed. All... More
