Pattaya Main Festivals October|October Holiday 2016

The annual Buffalo Racing Festival, one of Chon Buri's most exciting events, will this year take place on 15 October at the end of Buddhist lent. 

In tradition, stretches back over 140 years, the buffalos were raced to ensure that people get enough exercise during the period when rice had been growing and there was less work to be done in the fields. On the other hand, the festival also celebrates the importance of buffalos to Thai farming in the rural way of life, giving local people the chance to come together and enjoy fun and good food. 

The races themselves are in three categories based on the size of buffalos. And the farmers take it very seriously that they often train their buffalos strictly with rigorous diet.
