The Red Tour in Gansu

  Gansu has not only the glorious culture, but also the historical red revolution capable of evoking praises and tears. In the 20s and 40s of the twentieth Century, on the vast land of Gansu were burning flames of revolution, and the sparks of the fire turned into raging flames overthrowing the old forces

  Gansu is the passing and Realigning place of successful Long March of 25,000 miles of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants. It is also the earliest birthplace of red revolutionary regime in the North of China, witnessing the tragic history of the Red West Route Army. Here are more than 300 important red tour sites which have become ideal venues for revolutionary education, memorializing martyrs, and taking Red Tours.

  The Revolutionary Memorial Hall of Lanzhou Office of the Eighth Route Army

  Lanzhou Office of the Eighth Route Army is the public office set up by the Communist Party of China during the period of Anti Japanese War from May 1937 to November 1943. It made a great contribution in rescuing the imprisoned and banished soldiers of the Red Western Route Army, carrying forward the Anti Japanese National United Front, delivering advanced young people to Yan’an and transferring resistance materials, etc..

  Huining Realigning Site of the Red Army (AAAA)

  Huining County is one of the Four Focuses in the Long March of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants (Ruijin was the starting point, Zunyi the turning point, Huining the Realigning point, and Yan’an the landing point.). In October 1936, the three main forces of the Red Army realigned here, marking the victory of the world famous Long March of 25,000 miles.

  Huachi Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall (AAA)

  Huachi Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall, located at Liyuanbao of Nanliang village of Huachi, Gansu, covers an area of 33 acres and the total construction area is of 2281 square meters. On the left side of the gate is the vertical inscription of Chen Yun with the name of the memorial hall: Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall. Opposite the gate is a tall antique memorial archway in the center of which is the inscription Nanliang Revolutionary Memorial Hall of Hu Yaobang, the former General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. Behind the archway is the memorial tower of the Nanliang revolutionary martyrs. On both sides of the memorial tower and the backside engraved are the names of 608 martyrs.

  Gannan Diebu Lazikou Battle Site (AAA)

  On 17 September, 1935, the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants occupied the natural barrier Lazikou, opening the pathway to Shaanxi and Gansu for the Red Army. Lazikou Battle is a representative battle in the war history of the Long March of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants, and so Lazikou has become a famous revolutionary site.

  Longnan Tanchang Hadapu Red Army Long March Site

  In 1935 the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants drew up a full set of strategic decisions at Hadapu for commanding an army in Shanbei and establishing the revolutionary base. Hadapu Red Army Long March Site is the best preserved old site where are displaying the most revolutionary relics of the Long March in Gansu of the Red Army.

  Zhangye Gaotai Memorial Hall of the Red Western Route Army of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants

  The Memorial Hall of the Red Western Route Army of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants, located in the southeast corner of Gaotai County, was founded in 1957. Buried in the yard are Dong Zhentang, the former captain of the Fifth Red Army who fought in Hexi and Gaotai and died, Yang Keming, the former Director of the Political Department, and more than 3000 revolutionary martyrs of the Red Western Route Army. In 2006 it was chosen as the most comprehensive and authoritative memorial hall reflecting the history of the Red Western Route Army.
