LET'S MEET on a rooftop to connect in a surprising way about topics that don't come up in everyday smalltalk. Especially the first time we meet. Rooftop Philosophy is a low-key and prompt-led conversation salon. A. Spaice, who will be your host, gathered people for Rooftop Philosophy in Phnom Penh from late 2016 through early 2017 at an airy, beautiful venue. The unexpected response came from people whose paths had never crossed, who had never met Spaice, and who had no idea what would be in store. But that was the objective: to make a space for uncertainty, for anything-can-happen sort of playful and relaxed conversation. To meander, flow and bring out the human in us. No way possible to google ahead of time. To see who else is 'going,' or wonder how we might be perceived. None of that. Just, showing up. 'Showing up is the main work,' says Spaice. 'You show up not just for the people who are also doing the same, but mostly for yourself. So little attention and permission do people give these days, we're finding, to simply honoring a commitment to oneself. I would have abandoned Rooftop a long time ago but for those moments when guests' eyes light up, and they say to me, straightfaced, "Keep making these, please. I needed to get out of my box." It's not for everyone, but you know? Why not at least put the word out, see if it resonates. If we have enough people, then yes, let's.' The program'Who are we? What will happen? Who will turn up?
