Calypso Bangkok Has Moved to Asiatique Calypso Cabaret continues its 25-year tradition as the no. 1 Bangkok entertainment destination, now at Asiatique The Riverfront. Asiatique is the bold new entertainment and dining complex on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River.
Asiatique is Host to Bangkok’s no. 1 Entertainment
Asiatique takes its name from a pier in the early 1900s belonging to the East Asiatic Company, a business dedicated to the export of teak wood. Today, that pier on the Chao Phraya river has been restored to glory in the form of Asiatique - Bangkok’s upscale riverside entertainment, shopping and dining complex.
Calypso Cabaret chose Asiatique as a massive vote of confidence in the biggest lifestyle project in Asia. Calypso occupies Warehouse 3, the largest venue, within a veritable ocean of artisanal markets, restaurants and bars.

Entertainment for the Whole Family
If you’ve experienced the magic of Calypso Cabaret before, you’ll be happy to hear the show holds true to its 25-year-old tradition of providing first-grade family friendly cabaret entertainment, with a unique Thai flair. The new Calypso Cabaret theater accommodates 480 guests. The new Calypso Cabaret restaurant offers traditional Thai dinners accompanied by a Khon dance show before the main entertainment begins. (Learn more about the Calypso restaurant and Khon dance in next week’s post.)

Asiatique The Riverfront (open-air mall)
Asiatique The Riverfront is a large open-air mall in Bangkok, Thailand. It is situated in the former docks of the East Asiatic Company, and faces the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road. The complex opened in 2012 after extensive renovation of the site.
The Denmark-based East Asiatic Company was founded in 1897 and was one of several Western firms conducting trade with Siam at the time. The company owned port facilities on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, which include several warehouses, the oldest extant building dating from 1907. The port ceased operations in 1947, and the facilities later fell into disuse. In May 2011 real estate company TCC Land announced its plans to renovate and develop the site into a retail/entertainment complex to be known as Asiatique The Riverfront.
