"homogenisation" has been happening from the beginning of time. Take England as an example. Invasion and/colonisation by Romans, Angles, Jutes, Celts, Saxons, Vikings/Danes, Norman French. Each group changed the culture, food, language, and religion. Throw in a King miffed at not having an heir, and a Civil War, and religion was changed again and again. And all this change and 'homogenisation' has made us the people we are today - and that includes quite a large percentage of Australians.

Not many people liked the changes when they were happening, especially since all past changes were quite violent, just as very few people like it now - I'm certainly guilty of condemning the Americanisation of Australia. But this is the way of the world and in 100 years no one will remember or think badly of it.

It makes it easier for us to understand other people and get along. Conservatives don't like it because their whole thing is to not trust people who are different. Chain food exists around the world, but not in such large quantities as you might imagine.
