WE stopped for a drink and at first we were so surprised by the price ... 220 Bath per glass ! And when my cocktail arrived ... The worst "cocktail" of my life. It tastes juice made of powder and water ... I really don't recommended this place.
I chose Wanfah again for my dinner cruise in Chao Phraya. It is good, but I remember very vividly that it used to be better. Obviously, I chose it again because of my fond remembrance of this wonderful rice barge, but I found it quite changed. Earlier, it used to be air-conditioned, but now it is all open and the hot weather made it uncomfortable, if not unbearable. The food is still adorable and the cultural show too is fantastic. But with very little visitors on board, the artist obviously didn't have the enthusiasm to put in their best. I was celebrating my birthday on the cruise and I had mentioned this while making the booking. But, the crew and the staff didn't take any notice of it and it went off without any good wishes coming from them. Still, if I am giving them a Very Good remark, it is because of my remembrance of their past service.
Anyone who visits Bangkok must take a evening cruise on one of the many boats to offer these trips, we chose Wan Fah Dinner Cruise, and we weren't disappointed, superb views, great dinner and great traditional Thai entertainment on board, highly recommended.
It is a traditional boat, with very nice crew. The dinner is OK and there are a few traditional Thai dances which makes it special. There is one guy explaining some things but personally we didn't understand his accent (our mother tongue is Spanish) but it didn't matter much. It lasts two hours which I think is too much but you can enjoy it a lot of you go with the right people. The view is OK, you see the major temples alongside the river and other boats passing, that's basically it.
Provide Halal food and nice 4 course meal. Any additional drink purchased on board is very expensive. Apart from that, there is a nice performance on board..as intro to Thailand's culture.
We went on this dinner cruise as in the brochure it looked traditional and not like a big modern cruise ship type boat. Sadly it wasn't how we were expecting. The boat was rocking all over the place and we were moored up by a shopping centre so not very romantic or atmospheric ! My husband couldn't eat he felt to queasy and the food was very poor so we just couldn't eat it. It was very embarrassing when they came to collect the plates. We set off and were given a guided tour - however you don't see things as demonstrated in the brochure i.e the grand palace is behind a wall ! The staff weren't very friendly and didn't look happy and all in all just wasn't a good experience, such a shame. Paying for drinks on top made this a very expensive trip which would be ok but it was very poor.
