Khanom bueang (Thai Crispy Crêpe)
Khanom bueang, known as Thai crepes in English, is a popular form of street food in Thailand. They resemble tacos, but are made from rice flour rather than corn flour. Khanom buang are usually first topped or filled with coconut cream, followed by sweet or savory toppings such as shredded coconut, Fios de ovos (known as foi thong, Thai: ฝอยทอง) or egg yolks, or chopped scallions. They are thin, and crispy with a juicy interior.

For the love of all sweet things, you cannot miss this simple but delicious dessert. See those stalls with mango pyramids? Stop here and try this combination of sweet and juicy mangos with sticky flavoured rice and coconut cream. Heaven!

Quality coconut sticky rice with mango is widely available throughout the city, including from several vendors on Khao San Road. The durian version can be more of a challenge to locate - I’ve been lucky (or unlucky?) enough to find it regularly from a particular fruit vendor in Pak Khlong Talad flower market, in the fresh fruit section along the sidewalk towards the north of the market.
Cost: about 50-100THB.

I-dtim mat phrao (coconut ice cream)
Made with coconut milk rather than cow’s milk, Thai i-dtim mat phrao(i-dtim is how the word “ice cream” has been rendered by Thai accents over the years, and mat phrao means “coconut”) is both sweet and refreshing, and locals often take it with kernels of boiled corn or gingko biloba sprinkled on top. A more literal depiction of the “ice cream sandwich”, many Thais also enjoy i-dtim mat phrao wedged between a folded piece of white bread - come on, you know you want to try it!

Thai Fresh Fruit Street Vendor/Fresh Fruit from a Bicycle Cart
Fresh fruit grows abundantly in Thailand, and the Thai diet includes a high amount of fruit. All year-long you can find vendors with carts offering a variety of fresh fruit which is displayed on ice in nice glass cases, sectioned off, with hinged lids. For a very reasonable price, the vendor will remove a portion on fruit from the cart, slice it and place in a plastic bag for you. Usually a small bag of fruit seasoning, a mix of sugar, salt and ground chile pepper, is provided at no extra cost.

Pomegranate Juice & Thai Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
Throughout Thailand you can easily find packaged orange juice on refrigerated shelves in corner stores, but an ever-present competitor is the less expensive and fresher alternative made by enterprising street vendors who slice, squeeze and bottle this juice all day long.
