Red Oven Restaurant Bangkok Red Oven Restaurant Bangkok offers one of the most impressive all-day dining set ups in the city, with well prepared dishes appearing from the unique scarlet stove. Food from around the world is served here: from fresh sushi to homemade ice-cream. Although it is set up like a buffet, this restaurant also serves a la carte options for those who aren’t in the mood for multiple course dining. The selection on offer for dinner from Sunday to Thursday is up there with many of the famous brunches served in Bangkok, and at a much better price (only 1,200 baht ++ per person). The restaurant opens at 6:30 for breakfast and keeps serving fresh hot and cold options throughout the day until 22:30. On Saturdays and Sundays a classic brunch is served from 12:00 until 15:00. This is a great all-you-can-eat option in a refined setting.
The oven is the centerpiece to the main dining room, which offers expansive views of Lumpini Park, but there are plenty of other options when it comes to seating. Outside is a small terrace with its own bar, and round the corner is a long canteen table in polished wood, just the thing for group meals. Head towards the back of the restaurant, towards the Japanese section, and you’ll find the more sophisticated seating area, with leather covered chairs and funky chandeliers made from cutlery. Last but not least is the Wine Connection section, where diners can sit on high stools and sample great value glasses and bottles from one of the biggest importers in Bangkok. Often buffets can feel a bit cavernous, but by dividing the room into zones Red Oven feels cosy.
The Japanese station is popular with sashimi cut and sushi rolled to order. It’s extremely fresh and the chef is generous with his portions: thick cuts of salmon and tuna accompanied by the traditional wasabi and soy sauce blend. Over at the Teppanyaki counter there’s a selection of hot Japanese classics, which are delivered directly to your table once they are griddled.
Dessert is the first thing you spot as you enter Red Oven Restaurant Bangkok, just to make sure you leave enough room. The homemade ice-cream selection includes unusual flavours such as peanut butter and chocolate, but the Thai fruit sorbets are far more refreshing. Fresh patisseries can be ordered from the glass cabinet, and there are individual portions of chocolate mousse, cheesecake and colourful macarons. A definite bonus point for Red Oven is the gluten free cakes and breads on offer.
