【August 11 2014】Laterns like these will be lit in much of the Muslim world for the next month during observance of the holy month of fasting known as Ramadan. It's unclear why and when lanterns first became associated with the celebration of Ramadan, but they've become a unique and colorful symbol of the holiday, and are particularly beloved by children.
