The “Parade through Macao, Latin City” is a cultural event that unfolds as a procession through the streets of Macao and is one of the major events in celebration of Macao’s handover to China and has already become one of the city’s trademark festive events since its first edition in 2011. The Parade is held annually in December to mark the anniversary.

Every year, several foreign performing groups as well as hundreds of talented local artists are invited to be creative participants. They lead the residents and tourists on this adventure through Macao’s streets and alleyways and bring songs and dances to the city’s historical quarters. The Parade, which highlights Macao’s unique cultural features and the City’s multicultural atmosphere, culminates in a grand joint performance in which the artists present dazzlingly colorful performances, bringing the celebration of this joyous occasion to a vivid climax.

The opening ceremony will be held at Largo da Companhia de Jesus located in Ruins of St.Paul at 4p.m. Together with the performing groups from Latin-speaking countries and other foreign regions, local talents begin an extraordinary treasure hunt journey. The parade marches through many roads, like Rua de D.Belchior Carneiro, Rua de Sanches de Miranda and so on. Coming to final destination at 5:30pm at Tap Seac Square to celebrate the handover with a festive and carnival atmosphere.

The “Parade through Macao, Latin City” is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-organized by several other governmental departments, with valuable support from various other organizations, bringing the whole community together.
