Day 3 Daepyeong-Pyoseon (50km)
Oedolgae Rock

Oedolgae is a 20-meter-tall pillar-shaped rock in Sammaebong, Seogwipo. It was created 1.5 million years ago by a volcanic eruption, although according to legend it is known as “Halmang Bawi” (Grandmother Rock), as an old woman was turned to rock here while waiting for her husband to return from fishing at sea. The area is popular for cliff jumping and fishing.

Saeyeongyo Bridge and Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls
Saeyeongyo is a bridge linking Seogwipo Harbor to Saeseom Island. The bridge is shaped like a Jeju traditional boat, the Tewoo. The bridge is lit until 10 p.m., attracting many people here to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

Cheonjiyeon means a pond created by “the meeting sky and land.” The white column of thunderous water falling from the cliff is a magnificent sight. It is 22 meters in height and 12 meters in width. Around the waterfall are dampalsu trees (Natural Monument #163) and the giant mottled eel (Natural Monument #27) is active at night.

Seogwipo Submarine
Opening in 1988, this is the world’s third and Asia’s first tourist submarine. The submarine goes to Munseom islet to explore the pristine marine ecosystem and soft coral reefs, regarded by many as a scuba-diver’s paradise. It also stops by a 40-meter-deep shipwreck and a beautiful red soft coral reef wall.

Jeju Folk Village
The sprawling village site was developed through a long archaeological and restoration process to restore Jeju thatched roof houses and artifacts from the end of the Joseon Dynasty.

There are over 100 traditional houses and 8,000 folk items, including household items, agricultural tools, fishing tools, furniture and stone works. There is a concert hall for folk performances, a restaurant, market, folk craft room, souvenir shop, traditional wedding room and horseback riding.
