Explore Science and the Unknown in Macau Science Center

Macau Science Center is a science center in Macau, China. The project to build the science center was conceived in 2001 and completed in 2009. The main building has a distinctive, asymmetrical, conical shape with a spiral walkway and a large atrium inside. Galleries lead off the walkway, mainly consisting of interactive exhibits aimed at science education.

The science center mainly consist of 3 sections.

1. Exhibition Center

The 5,800-square meters Exhibition Center plus its atrium accommodates 12 permanent galleries. The galleries cover topics in Space Science, Fun Science, Children Science, Science Express, Robotics, Acoustics, Earth, Genetics, Eco- Conservation, Sport Health, Sport Challenge and Food Science. There are two more galleries reserved for special exhibitions. The exhibitions seek to provide knowledge-oriented, scientific and interesting interactive exhibits, and allow visitors to explore science in a hands-on way.

2. Planetarium

The centerpiece of the Planetarium is a tilted semi-dome screen nearly 15 meters in diameter, supported by high resolution 3D digital projectors. The Planetarium has around 127 seats equipped with interactive controls. Wearing special glasses, the audience can see 3D images projected onto the screen. Its powerful database, coupled with the amazing projection effects, can take viewers on a journey traveling freely into space. The system can also show digital Dome films, thus making the Planetarium a multi-functional Dome theater. The Planetarium is awarded the highest resolution 3D planetarium in the world by the Guinness World Records™

3. Conventional Center

Convention Hall

Facilities & Equipment: Pre-conference Reception Area, Convention Hall, VIP Room, Kitchen, professional film and video projection system, audio systems, systems for use in lectures or performances and SIS system (Up to 3 different languages)

 Meeting Rooms

Facilities & Equipment: Projection equipment, multimedia play back system, wireless internet access and video conferencing system

Open from Monday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm

Closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year’s Eve

Open on Public Holidays

Bus Stop:

Bus routes to Macao Science Center include 3A, 8, 10A and 12 towards Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre

Shuttle Bus:

Starting today, a free, one-way shuttle bus service will be available on Saturdays, Sundays and Government holidays to ferry visitors from the Macao Science Center to the Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal. Priority will be given to the Center’s ticket holders. Free shuttle bus schedule: 16:35　17:05　17:35　18:05

Parking:

There is an underground car park at the Center for public, and is managed by the Macao Transport Bureau. MOP$3 per hour or less than an hour for light vehicle, and MOP$1 per hour or less than an hour for motorcycle.

 And Macau Science Center is one of the best places before or after the joining of  2016 Parade through Macau, Latin City in December.
