A mobile Olympic and Paralympic Games museum is currently touring Brazil, bringing a treasure trove of sporting memorabilia and historical information to no fewer than 45 cities across the country

Two trailers transporting the exhibits will clock up 30,000 kilometres on their journey, allowing visitors from every one of the host nation’s regions to immerse themselves in the biggest sporting event on the planet

The collection includes a number of items sourced from the Olympic Museum in the Swiss city of Lausanne, as well as those contributed by the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the Rio 2016 Organising Committee

Alongside unique memorabilia, interactive digital content brings the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to life, with a special focus on Brazil’s participation

Rio 2016 unveils official posters for Olympic Games The mobile museum shows the evolution of running shoes Among the items on display are medals from the Athens Games of 1896, as well as a copy of a letter written in 1913 by the Baron de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, in which the movement’s iconic rings appear for the first time

Brazil-related highlights include the kimono worn by London 2012 gold medal winner Sarah Menezes, as well as a jersey belonging to Giba, who was part of the victorious Athens 2004 men's volleyball team

The mobile museum is touring all of Brazil's five regions
