The Rio de Janeiro municipal government has launched a new website that will help visitors and residents find their way around the city during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in August and September

The website, which went live on Thursday (16 June) and is available in three languages – Portuguese, English and Spanish – also includes information about the Olympic venues, tourist attractions and tips for making the most of your time in the city

The portal contains information about timetables, fares and stations for a whole range of transport options in Rio, including the new tram service as well as boats, buses and trains

As well as public transport information, it will provide users with details about which roads are being closed during specific events and how traffic may be affected

These 'Olympic Lanes' will mostly be reserved for the transportation of athletes, volunteers and other people involved in the Games

Officials plan to implement a range of other measures to improve the flow of traffic during the Games, such as giving public sector workers days off, moving school holidays and encouraging people to work from home
