The museum opened on July 30, 2003 with one basement level and two above-ground levels in the area of the lake in Hyeonam-ri, Seo-myeon, Chuncheon.
Ani Town Festival is held every year with the beautiful surroundings of Chuncheon as the background.
It excavates, collects, preserves, exhibits and studies animation-related materials to awaken the importance and correct sense of animation.
In addition, it aims to build the foundation of animation as a future industry with new awareness and prospect for Korean animation and animation history. Toy Robot Hall, located on the first floor of Robot Experience Hall which opened in 2013, added a video room which rotates 180° for realistic screening and remodeled the second and third floors into toy-themed places as a toy studio.
This hall offers various exciting activity like moving ones body, imaginative playing, activities to use the brain and other fun activities as well as a future-toy experience which combines traditional toys with the artificial intelligence of robots used in IT.
