Seoul, South Korea, April 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Korean beef called Hanwoo, a representative dish of Korean food culture, has been positioned to catch Hong Kong tastes - the city being known for its luxurious gourmets - by targeting famous hotels in Hong Kong.

Hanwooboard, a private institution formed by Korean beef farms in South Korea, recently announced that it has started to launch Korean beef menu service among top hotels in Hong Kong in order to capture the tastes of rich local residents. It launched "Korean Beef Buffet" by using sirloin cuts of Korean beef supplied by Hadong Pine Korean Beef at luxurious restaurant Kool, based in Hong Kong's luxury 5-star Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel.

According to the board, the Korean beef buffet, which is being served as a special menu for three months from early April until early June, has become popular despite its high cost. The buffet consists of Korean beef skewers, Korean beef sliders, Korean beef with chill and onion, Korean beef with bamboo shoots and mushroom, with each dish using first-class top quality meat. Lunch costs 378 Hong Kong dollars and dinner costs 628 Hong Kong dollars.

Hanwooboard signed a contract with the global brand JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong for providing beef from PyeongChang, known for the city of Winter Olympic Games in early February.

This menu adoption is the result of promotional marketing for premium Korean beef and participating in local events among local residents over the past few years. In 2017, the board conducted a variety of Korean beef promotional events by joining Hong Kong Food Exposition and conducting a Korean beef ranch touring program for Hong Kong journalists and distribution buyers. Thanks to these strenuous efforts, the company achieved 100 tons of accumulated exports last year, with Korean beef exports to Hong Kong accounting for 57 tons.

The board will hold many different events in Hong Kong this year to promote high quality Korean beef, including a Korean beef festival.

An executive director of the board said "Korean beef is gradually earning recognition and preference as a luxurious meat among local people as many top-notch hotels visited by world famous stars have added it to their main menu" and added "we will strive to focus on local marketing for more people to get the chance to taste the whole varied range of Korean beef cuisine."
