The Phuket Botanic Garden is located in Chalong near the Wat Chalong Temple.Currently it is the only botanic garden in the south of Phuket, featuring plant species from throughout South East Asia and beyond.You will certainly find it an excellent place to enjoy beauty of nature and to learn about the nature of plants from all over the world. Phuket Botanic Garden is open for visitors as a recreational attraction as well as a research centre for many rare plant species. 

 The Phuket Botanic Garden features an array of displays ranging from local herbs, orchids and palm trees, to more exotic displays such as cacti and winter plants. In addition to these displays dedicated to a single plant type, there are also displays depicting garden mockups that you would find within different cultures. You’ll find the local South East Asia gardens as well as a few more foreign gardens including a proper English garden.

The highlight of the Phuket Botanic Garden is not necessarily the individual displays. It is the way that each display works as a part of the greater whole, making for a relaxing nature experience in a part of Phuket where there isn’t much nature left. Walking around the pond, you will appreciate the beautiful water lilies, lotuses and Japanese carp (or koi) as well as the large artificial waterfall that you can actually walk through.The most favorable part is the various water features each filled with dozens if not hundreds of Koi goldfish. You can purchase a small bag of fish food for 20 Baht if you are so inclined.

A must-stop is the winter garden where the many colourful flowers and trees have been brought from the northern part of the country. Despite Phuket’s warm and humid weather, the temperature in this room is always kept cool at maximum 20 degrees C,which is the only real sanctuary from the heat of the day.
