Introduction: Yau gok is a kind of traditional deep fried dumpling found within Cantonese cuisine originating from Guangdong Province in China. It is most common during Chinese New Year. Both the flavor and the ingredients can vary. The sweet one has sugar as stuffing while the salty one has vegetables. Yau gok is indispensable for Spring Festival. Previously, a dozen of days before the festival every household deep fried yau gok and jian dui (a type of fried pastry) with wok, which is a symbol of prosperity and affluence.
