Introduction: This classic Chinese dish can be found at many restaurants in Guangzhou. Beef brisket is stewed with ginger, star anise, garlic, and chu hou—a paste made of soybeans. White radish is the traditional vegetable used in this dish and it shall be added in the cooker when the brisket is 80% done. And then they are braised for one hour in low fire. This brothy stew can also be served over steamed rice or cooked rice noodles.
