Red rice stick

Introduction: Red rice stick is a traditional Meizhou snack made from rice flour and glutinous rice flour. The mixed flour shall be stirred in filtrated brown sugar or hot water and edible red pigment is added. The rice dough is shaped as a thin cylinder as long as 15 cm and steamed over high temperature. Red rice stick, literally people’s ban or people’s rice cake, is served as a sacrifice on festivals and religious ceremonies with a pray for a large family.
