Today we will leave Kathmandu after breakfast, driving 200kms through stunning scenery down to the Terai grasslands. Our destination is Chitwan National Park, where we will stay for the next 2 nights.

Today we enter India. India has so much to offer: from the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayas, to the amazing temples and coastlines, rich culture, and of course the food!

Set on the banks of the sacred River Ganges, Varanasi is awash with sights and sounds to overwhelm the senses. Learn the different uses of the ghats - both spiritual and secular.

Khajuraho was once the capital of the Chandella Kings who built the magnificent Hindu and Jain temples here around 1000 AD. Considered to be 'one of the seven wonders of India', the temples have been almost perfectly preserved.

After breakfast we leave our campsite and head 400kms to Agra. Most of today will be spent travelling and we will arrive in the evening. On the following day we spend the day exploring Agra by rickshaw, starting with sunrise at the Taj Mahal, followed by a visit to the Agra Fort.

We leave Agra today and head 230kms overland to the pink city of Jaipur, stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri (the old capital of the Mughal Empire). On the following day we will have a full day exploring the sites of Jaipur on the truck with our local guide. Whilst in Jaipur there will also be the option for an early morning or late afternoon hot air balloon ride over the city.

Leave Jaipur and travel 245kms to arrive in Delhi in the afternoon. Tour Delhi. We'll meet our local guide and together, take the metro to Old Delhi where we visit Jama Masjid Mosque. We'll then walk through the old and secret streets of Old Delhi where we will stop at a local tea makers who will give us a demonstration about the Indian Masala Chai. After this we walk to the Food street where we can try a few Indian snacks. We'll then visit a local Sikh temple and from here, take a Cycle rickshaw to the local spice market! Today is free to explore the sights and sounds of Mumbai. The following day will be a free day to explore the city. This is also an opportunity to take a tour of the Dharavi slum areas of the city.

Head off the beaten track and into the heart of rural India. Travel Overland through the remote state of Andhra Pradesh, spending the night camping in the countryside.

Leaving Tirupati, we will spend the next few days overlanding through Andhra Pradesh, one of the least developed states in India. This is real off-the-beaten-track overlanding and we will aim to cover 420kms today to reach the small city of Vijayawada.

Today we continue our journey and drive 370kms through the back roads of Andra Pradesh. Our final destination tonight is the costal town on Visakhapatnam.

Home to over 60 tribal communities, Orissa's tribal areas are fascinating with music, dance, villages, markets and agriculture unlike anywhere else in India.

A Hindu holy city, Puri is revered for its Mathas (Hindu monasteries) and monuments, admired for its wonderful swimming beaches and treasured for its numerous fairs and festivals.

Today is a free day to explore the sights, sounds and flavours of Kolkata, India's largest city.

Most of today will be free time to continue exploring Kolkata, and we will have the opportunity to take an incredible photographical tour of the city. We will meet in the evening to take our overnight train to Siliguri.

Take the narrow winding roads out to tranquil Darjeeling. Enjoy some time relaxing amongst tea terraces and exploring the picturesque surrounds.

Gain a fascinating insight into the lives of Indian hill farmers by staying at the Karmi Farm tea plantation. This atmospheric and scenic spot is the ideal place for a bit of rest and relaxation. For those feeling energetic, take a trek to the surrounding foothills and spot local birdlife.
