Jambo! Welcome to Tanzania. The Shortbreak Adventure begins at the Slipway Hotel at 8am on Day 1. Meet your driver guide, leave behind the laid-back former capital of Dar es Salaam and hit the road in a 4x4 towards Selous National Park. Pass villages where you can glimpse traditional life and how people live and work in rural Tanzania, and then travel on to Africa’s largest wildlife reserve, with over 50,000 square kilometres of pristine rolling woodlands and grassy plains. The drive should take approximately 5hrs and you will have plenty of time to settle into camp this afternoon.

Over the next 2 days you will have the opportunity to choose from a range of Game Activities. Head deep into this vast wilderness in a 4x4 and search for the Big Five - the lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and leopards that call Selous home. A stop at one of the many dry sand riverbeds may reveal elephants digging for water, while you might see large clusters of giraffe nibbling the tops of trees and shrubs. There’s always a surprise to be had on a game drive and everywhere you look there’ll be some new wildlife to appreciate. End the day falling asleep to the thrilling sounds of the wilderness – a hyena’s cackle or a lion’s roar.

Venture out in to the reserve again and choose to enjoy the rare privilege of seeking animals on foot – a great way to tap in to the beauty, peace and tranquillity of this wilderness. Crouch hidden in long grass as you listen to the sounds of Africa and spy the elephants, zebra and lions that wander past. Otherwise climb aboard a boat to explore the reserve’s waterways, where hippos roam, eagles, pelicans and giant kingfishers swoop down to catch fish, and crocs cruise.

After breakfast this morning it's time to jump into 4x4's and head back to Dar Es Salaam where this trip finishes on arrival. Please do not book any flights until after 6pm this evening. If you're planning on staying on in Dar Es Salaam additional accommodation can be booked.
