News Another 700 guests arrived at the Rio 2016 Olympic Village on Monday (25 July), bringing the total number to 1,600 following the official opening on Sunday  Four hundred of the guests are athletes, the rest being team officials, with 115 nations represented While Rio 2016 staff and contractors worked hard to solve some outstanding issues, many of the athletes posted photos on their social media accounts that expressed their happiness to be in the Olympic host city ahead of the opening ceremony on 5 August After flying south from Canada, the women's football bronze medallists from London 2012 announced their arrival with a team picture with the Olympic rings in the village Not to be outdone by the Canadians, members of the Dutch women's hockey team got in amongst the Rio 2016 lettering for a team photo ahead of their title defence The major of the village, Brazil's Olympic medal-winning former basketball player Janeth Arcain, spoke to the media about the work being carried out to ensure everything was in place The Australian Olympic Committee decided on Sunday to accommodate their athletes in a hotel until they were satisfied that requested improvements were made, and Arcain said more than 600 people were working hard to deliver these "Things are being done very quickly and I am sure that this week all the necessary adjustments will have been completed," she said, adding that workers were checking everything "lightbulb by lightbulb, bathroom by bathroom "  More than 400 Australian athletes are on schedule to move in on Wednesday, including boxer Shelley Watts who posted the following Another boxer, the USA's reigning Olympic and world middleweight champion Claressa Shields, wrote on her Facebook page: "I'm here to tell you, me and the Team USA boxing team have been here 5 days with 0 problems!", adding that "Rio is a beautiful place!"  Meanwhile, a spokesman for the South African Olympic team told Associated Press that they were happy with their accommodation, calling the apartments "excellent" And Dutch hockey player Jeroen Hertzberger snapped this photo of the village at night   Speaking at a media conference at the Main Press Centre in Barra Olympic Park on Monday afternoon, Australia chef de mission Kitty Chiller said she expected that her country's athletes would move into the village on Wednesday "It has been a really positive day," she said  "There are a lot of Australians walking around the village with big smiles on their faces, primarily because we have athletes with us, but also because there has been an enormous amount of progress in the last 24 hours "
