Welcome to Alice Springs. Kick off your adventure with a visit to an authentic outback camel farm where you can choose to ride a camel (at your own expense). From here it’s off to Uluru (Ayers Rock) for lunch, before exploring the 36 rocky landforms of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). In the evening, watch the sun set over Uluru with a glass of wine before the 1,000 star dinner that awaits you back at camp. An early start this morning is rewarded with an Uluru sunrise. While the morning is fresh, enjoy a walk around the base of the rock, gaining insights into the land and the local Mala Aboriginal people on an interpretive cultural walk with an Aboriginal guide. Once you’ve had lunch, perhaps purchase some Indigenous art and craft at the Uluru Cultural Centre. Travel onto the exclusive campsite within Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon), where the you'll have dinner and sleep for the night. Put your hiking shoes on after breakfast and head out to explore the formations and towering rock faces of Kings Canyon. The sheer size of the canyon is breathtaking. Trek for 6 kilometres along the Rim Walk, which takes you through a natural amphitheatre, past the striped sandstone domes of the ‘lost city’ and into the green oasis of the Garden of Eden. Stop for lunch before making your way to a campsite on the homestead of Erldunda, where you’ll spend the night. Note: Total driving time today is around three hours. Depart early this morning and make your way to Coober Pedy, crossing the Northern Territory/South Australian border on the way (approximately 5 hours in total). Take a break in the outback town of Marla, where you can buy lunch and stretch your legs. Coober Pedy is known as ‘The Opal Capital of the World’ and was one of the locations used to film the third Mad Max movie. Due to extremely hot temperatures in the area most of the town is constructed underground, with residents living in cave-like houses carved into the hillsides. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the town, underground opal mine and museum. End the day hanging out with some rescued joeys at Josephine’s Gallery and Kangaroo Orphanage. Tonight stay in a multi-share underground bunkhouse in Coober Pedy. Note: Total driving time today is around four and a half hours. Total walking time is approximately half an hour.

After breakfast continue your journey south along the Stuart Highway. Stop at the small town of Glendambo (population 30) before continuing onto see some salt lakes. Pass by the rocket-launching town of Woomera, which was once part of a military test site. Afterwards, make your way to Port Augusta for lunch (at your own expense) and then cross over the Pichi Richi Pass towards Quorn, which is the historical railway township at the entrance to Richman Valley. In the morning, eat a big breakfast and hike up one of the many peaks in the Flinders Ranges. Make your way back to Adelaide through the rolling hills and vineyards of the Clare Valley, arriving in the early evening. Enjoy a free day in Adelaide, one of those cities that has a little bit of something for everyone: award-winning gardens, 19th century churches, fresh seafood and enough good wines and wine bars to keep even the pickiest sommelier happy. Discover the vibrant, eclectic and modern side of this city, with an emerging art and theatre scene to rival anything you’ll find in Melbourne or Sydney. Hit Hanley Beach, explore the nearby Barossa Valley, relax by the River Torrens, pick up some chocs at the Haigh's Factory, experience some Teutonic charm in the German neighbourhood of Hahandorf, or just indulge in the world class food and coffee.

After an early morning pick up from your accommodation, travel along the picture-perfect Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis for the 45-minute SeaLink ferry ride to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. While crossing, it is not uncommon to have an escort of local dolphins that can be viewed from the dolphin deck on the boat. Once you disembark, stop in at Rob's Shearing and Sheepdogs to check out how sheep are shorn, then continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery – the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia. Next up is a visit to the Seal Bay Conservation Park, where you'll have the opportunity to see rare Australian Sea-lions up close in a wild breeding colony. Travel on to the white sand dunes of the Little Sahara, where you’ll get the chance to give sand boarding a shot, then arrive at your exclusive accommodation in Vivonne Bay Lodge. Enjoy some free time to kayak on the Harriet River, go for a self-guided walk along the property’s tracks, head out trail bike riding or swimming, or simply kick back along Vivonne Bay Beach. Accommodation tonight is in eight-person dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms (bed linen provided). Note: The coach transfer from Adelaide to the ferry is approximately 1.5 hours, with a sailing time of 45 minutes. On the Island, you will spend approximately 2 hours in the vehicle with frequent sightseeing. Walking and active time will depend on which optional activities you choose in the afternoon.

After breakfast, pop into the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for a walk among eucalyptus trees in search of lazing koalas. Next, continue on to Flinders Chase National Park, arriving at the iconic Remarkable Rocks ahead of the crowds. Ramble across the craggy coastline, marvel at the dramatic seascapes, and then stop in at Admirals Arch on Cape Du Couedic to see the resident fur seals frolicking in the ocean or basking on the rocks. If time and weather permits, there might be several stops made en route to Penneshaw, where you can purchase dinner (own expense) before you arrive back in Adelaide. Note: Driving time whilst on the Island will be the majority of the day, with constant stops for sightseeing. The ferry Journey is approximately 45 minutes back to the mainland with a journey of 1.5 hours back to central Adelaide. Arrival time will be approximately 10:40pm. Walking distances are several hundred metres at each location.
