The teams hoping to win Olympic football gold at the Rio 2016 Games will know the nature of the challenge they face when the draw for the men’s and women’s tournaments are made at the Maracanã Stadium on April 14 (10

The legendary stadium, which will host the women’s and men’s finals on 19 and 20 August, will see the groups defined for the competition that will be staged in seven stadiums in six cities

The top-two placed teams in each of the men’s group will proceed to the quarter-finals, as will the top two from each of the women’s groups, plus the two best third-placed teams

See the pre-draw match scheduleThe Olympic Stadium will join the Maracanã in hosting matches in Rio de Janeiro, while the following stadiums will be used in the co-host cities: Amazônia Arena (Manaus), Corinthians Arena (São Paulo), Fonte Nova Arena (Salvador), Mané Garrincha Stadium (Brasília) and Mineirão (Belo Horizonte)

Brazil, who are likely to feature Barcelona star Neymar, are desperate to win their first Olympic title, but will face stiff competition from the likes of Argentina, Germany and Mexico, who defeated them in the London 2012 final

The other teams already qualified are Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Fiji, Honduras, Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Japan, Republic of Korea and Iraq, with the USA and Colombia to play off for the final slot in March (25 and 29)

The USA and Canada became the latest teams to qualify for the women’s tournament last weekend, joining Brazil, Colombia, Germany, France, South Africa, Zimbabwe and New Zealand

The final three slots (two Asian teams and one European) will be decided by 9 March
