In the first hour of online sales of tickets for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games to residents of Brazil, about 120,000 were snapped up

After the first eight hours of the first-come-first-served phase on Tuesday (20 October) around 240,000 tickets had been sold

This second phase of ticket sales to Brazilian residents – in which about two million tickets are available – follows a first stage that comprised two periods during which fans could register and request tickets on the Rio 2016 Tickets Portal, with over-subscribed events being allocated by draws

More than two million tickets were sold during the first phase

As well as tickets left over after the first phase, the first-come-first-served phase is offering tickets to sessions that were previously sold out

These are tickets that have been returned by fans, via the official ticket resale programme, or by international sports organisations and sponsors

Overseas fans should enter into contact with the authorised ticket reseller (ATR) in their territory
