From 10am (Brasília time) on Wednesday 1 July, the second phase of ticket sales for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games begins, with approximately three million seats up for grabs

As with the first phase, only Brazilians and foreigners resident in Brazil will be eligible to take part, and only those who applied in the first round will be able to do so again

Fans should go to the ticketing portal, choose the sessions they would like to attend and make their application

The application period will remain open until 17 July and as in the first phase, when the number of applications is larger than the number of tickets available, allocations will be made via a draw

The results of the draw will be released in August

Rio 2016 advises fans to read the ticket guide thoroughly (which contains maps of the arenas, details of the sports and a complete schedule) before making any applications

Who can take part? You can only apply for tickets in the second phase if you applied in the first phase and either (i) you were awarded tickets and completed your purchase successfully, or (ii) you were not awarded tickets – in which case you will have priority in the second round

You must also be over 18 and able to provide a Brazilian CPF number and permanent address in the Brazil

Overseas fans will be able to purchase tickets through an authorised ticket reseller (ATR) in their country of residence, (to find out who is the ATR in your region, click here)

Will there be a draw for all the events? There will only be a draw if the number of applications is greater than the number of tickets available for that session

Therefore, it is important to use the budget control tool if you don’t want to pay for lots of tickets should you be awarded them

How does the priority system work?Applicants will be ranked according to the number of tickets they were awarded in the first phase: those who were not allocated any sessions in the first draw will be top of the list; those who were awarded just one session will be next, and so on

The draw will then be made in phases, starting with the people who did not win any sessions, moving on to those who won just one, and so on, until all the demand has been met or until all the available tickets have run out, whichever happens first

What tickets are available?Any sessions which still have seats available from the quota reserved for Brazilians and foreigners resident in Brazil following the first phase of ticketing, will be available in the second

Are concessions available?Yes, for all sessions

The elderly and wheelchair users are entitled to a 50% discount in all price ranges

Obese people, students, teachers from Rio de Janeiro’s municipal public school network and those with disabilities (other than wheelchair users) pay half-price in the lowest price category

These conditions apply for Brazilians and foreigners resident in Brazil

How can I pay?Spectators will be able to spread the payment of tickets in up to three interest free instalments (for VISA credit card payments) or up to five interest free instalments (for payments via Bradesco VISA cards)

The instalment option is only available in the draw phases of ticket sales (it will not be available in the direct sales stage for example)

Those who do not have a VISA card can opt for the virtual payment option

You will only be charged for the sessions you are allocated

What are the next stages in the sales process?August 2015 – second draw results releasedOctober 2015 – start of online direct sales (for Brazilians and foreigners resident in Brazil)October 2015 – ticket resale tool will become available on the website
